How long do squirrels live in the wild?
New Castle County Delaware
Expert Response
Tree squirrels are 'active' all year round and normally can survive about 12-15 years in captivity. Much less than that in the wild - where they are not protected. An average life span of a tree squirrel in-the-wild is about a year. The road is the main source of demise for squirrels. ~DOT
