Determining Black Walnut Disease #308090
Asked March 19, 2016, 9:39 PM EDT
I've started to see what appears to be a white fungus growing on some of the branches of a black walnut tree in my yard. It's on a few of the lower branches but has gotten worse over the past year. Is it possible to tell what it is and whether or not it is treatable?

It is hard to tell from photos, but I believe your tree has lichens. This link will describe them. Lichens are not harmful but, in fact, indicate good air. http://www.extension.umn.edu/garden/yard-garden/trees-shrubs/non-harmful-tree-conditions/
