Jade disease #307524

Asked March 16, 2016, 8:02 PM EDT

My jade plant has a dry white crusty/flaky disease, and has lost Over half of its leaves. My local garden store suggested weekly applications of neem oil at night. After 4 weeks, there doesn't appear to be getting better. Help? Photos attached.

Expert Response

The plant has mealybugs. They are a common problem of jade plants. Dip a Q-tip in a little rubbing alcohol to kill them. If possible, washing the plant can also help. Some of the bugs may be at or below the soil. You will have to treat several times to get rid of all of the insects. See: https://www.clemson.edu/extension/hgic/plants/pdf/hgic1507.pdf
