possible invasive water plant #304775

Asked March 04, 2016, 1:38 PM EST

We have a spring fed stream that feeds into the Gunpowder River in Hereford, MD. About 3-4 years ago, this plant appeared in the stream bed and was terribly prolific. It appears to be most happy in early winter. Do you know what it is and how to remove it ?

When were these photos taken?  It looks like Lysimachia nummularia.  http://www.missouribotanicalgarden.org/PlantFinder/PlantFinderDetails.aspx?kempercode=t120   Lysimacia tends to die back over the winter.  It pulls up nicely.  If it is in the water, you cannot use a broadleaf weed killer that is sold for land plants.  vw
