Orange Slime On Black Walnut Tree #301107

Asked February 14, 2016, 9:44 PM EST

My parents' only remaining black walnut tree has a mass of orange slime coming out of the trunk. We would like to know what's wrong with it, if it can survive and if we can do anything to help it.

Expert Response

If you are in the Eugene City limits, get the urban forester to come take a look. The sapping may be caused by the thousand cankers disease.

This also may be leaking from the thousand cankers disease and the walnut twig beetle.
