Tiny black bugs #300547

Asked February 10, 2016, 6:59 PM EST

Hello. I have recently had a massive infestation of tiny black bugs and some baby ones being clear, They are mainly around my balcony door which since having our newborn in the flat has been here has been more condensed than usual however they have not been seen on or around my windows. My balcony door is double glazed and some how they are still getting through. I cleaned them off with bleach and water today as there were so many and it worries me with children in my flat that they could be of danger? They crawl very slowly do mot fly or jump. I hope you can identify them for me? Many thanks

Do you have better pictures.  I can not tell what these are.  They may be some type of mite, but I can not tell.  Also tell me approximate size to take a picture next to something so I can have a comparative size.

Thank yoh for your reply.
I recently had a pigeon nest on my balcony and after looking up pigeon mites it looks like this is our problem.
I have a few questions.
I have a very small baby in the house. If swallowed by my baby can they hurt her?
And what is the best way to clear my flat of these mites without having to pay exterminators?
I live in the uk.

Many thanks

The mites will probably not be a problem if swallowed. Because bird mites in general cannot survive on humans, the problem may go away without any treatment. You may want sure that you use some household insecticide spray on the mites you see. Actually, spraying them with soapy water maybe all you need.
