Lemon tree #299545
Asked February 03, 2016, 7:52 PM EST
My friend who lives in Hollywood, MD, has two questions: Would her large potted lemon tree survive in the ground in her yard? She currently stores it in her garage in the winter. Why does her persimmon tree in her yard only produce a hundred or so fruits and the rest of them fall off before maturity?

Expert Response
Lemon trees will not survive outside over the winter in Maryland. Native persimmons fall off the tree before maturity and ripen on the ground. What you describe is what persimmons do. vw
