Fire Blight on Aristocrat Peare Trees #297483
Asked January 20, 2016, 1:17 PM EST
We have 58 Aristocrat Pear Trees , some of which have had fire blight. Some tree service companies want to continually (annually) perform a systemic root flare injection as well as perform a bark treatment to help suppress Japanese maple scale. One company feels a good pruning will be adequate as they feel the trees are healthy. Please advise as to your feelings on this.
Thank you.

Appropriate pruning is a good way to help to control fire blight. http://www.ipm.ucdavis.edu/PMG/PESTNOTES/pn7414.html

To avoid the expense of the care of your Aristocrat pears, you could consider replacing them with trees with less problems and that is less invasive. vw
