Are the Spanish Oak Trees Suitable for the Fair Oaks Ranch,Tx Area?  we are considering replacing a dying tree (pearless pear tree) with a Spanish oak tree.

Hello,

I think it would be in your best interest to 'shy away' from planting any oak species in that area, especially Red Oaks due to the potential of the  Oak Wilt pathogen.  I would recommend you use our Sister Agency, The Texas A&M Forest Service Tree selector guide in helping you make an appropriate choice.
