A friend of mine Tina was given this plant over 10 years ago. It started blooming when she put it in the greenhouse for the winner. Will it now bloom every year? Also, are they a plant that has to reach maturity before they bloom?

Expert Response

Yes, all plants need to reach maturity before they bloom. Some long and some short. There are sometimes other environmental factors affecting plant flowering, day length, temperature, etc. For this plant, accumulative temperature may be the key for flowering. Putting it in the greenhouse in the winter increases the accumulative temperature.
