When you have limited space for gardening it is a great idea to do Mixed Gardening. Here is the link to a paper that was written by a Lane County Master Gardener that should be helpful.

Keep in mind that when practicing “Mixed Gardening” you will need to use more fertilizer and water.  You will need to be careful with any chemicals (organic or non-organic) that you may use on your flowers or shrubs.  Check the chemicals you use to be sure they are approved for use with food producing plants.  Here is the link to another publication that you may find useful.  http://extension.oregonstate.edu/benton/sites/default/files/ee2015novdec.pdf.  The “Benton County Extension Express” is available online with a new one every two months.  Hope you find this information helpful and that you have success with your “Mixed Gardening”.
