flying through screens!!!!! #281210

Asked September 28, 2015, 12:40 PM EDT

What are the very very tiny flying insects that are able to get through our screens? There are thousands and thousands of them. We are not able to open our windows. We moved here last fall and they were here then. This year seems like they have multiplied. They are maybe smaller than a fleck of pepper. Please help????

These are probably fungus gnats.  Here is a link that will help you control them:

Hi again,
Another Master gardener has suggested that these may be Hackberry psyllids:

Thank thank you so much. I will try to take a better picture.. They look pretty dark so not sure about the hackberry psyllids.

There are several hackberry psyllid species and their appearance varies somewhat. Some are dark.  We suspect hackberry petiole gall psyllids or nipple gall psyllids.
