What are these marks on my plants #276791

Asked September 09, 2015, 10:03 AM EDT

I always get these whitish marks on some of my herbs. I've attached photos of my parsley and calendula leaves, but I also get it on the thyme and oregano as well. I've been told it's not harmful and you can still eat them (I won't), or thrips, or could be from the humidity. Can you identify it? And how can I protect my plants? So far, I just cut them back and harvest the new growth before it returns.

We're not quite certain what the problem is with your various herbs and plants, but since it crosses genera and species lines, it is most likely an environmental or cultural issue.  While the weather could be one factor, is it possible that they have been sprayed with something, either purposely or inadvertently?
Our recommendation for the herbs would be to proceed exactly as you have been doing; i.e., simply harvest what you can and eat them.
