What plant produces this seed pod? #276336

This pod was found on our property. It grows on a vine with a light purple flower, resembling a thistle. We live in the northwest Arkansas area.

It looks like a Passiflora species (Passion Vine). Did the flower look something like this? http://plants.usda.gov/plantguide/pdf/cs_pain6.pdf
