Mushroom ID #275875

Asked September 05, 2015, 11:41 AM EDT

My yard is being overrun with this odd mushroom that quite frankly looks like dog poop. It get worse every year and this year I have pulled dozens and dozens and they come back with a vengeance. What are they and what can be done to control them. Thanks in advance for any information and advice on control. Ronan Frackiewicz

Expert Response

The mushroom in the photograph cannot be identified at this time.  One or more photographs of the underside of the mushroom (showing the gills or pores) are necessary for an identification.

In regards to their control, there is nothing that can be done to prevent the mushrooms from coming up.  The only thing that can be done is to pick and discard them when they appear.
