Orange butternut squash? #275832

I have small squash that are shaped like butternut squash. The fruits started out green and stripy and are now becoming solid golden orange, not tan. I ca't remember the type of seeds we planted. Will these turn tan, or will they be orange when ripe? What kind of squash are they? I couldn't find anything online about golden butternut squash.

Expert Response
There are no other squashes that have the same shape as butternut.
They are classified as a winter squash and need to remain in the garden as long as possible so the skin gets tough. This helps with storage. Just harvest them before the first frost. Or if the first frost is really late, when the vine dies back. Colors change as the fruit ripens and it isn't done yet.

Thanks so much for your prompt response!
Just bake them and serve them with plenty of butter and brown sugar. That's the best thanks!
