Saw it sprout out of nowhere. Now it's tall and has buds. What is this thing and should I get rid of it? New to owning a yard. The stem is hairy and didn't start budding until it got taller it seems. It also grew more outward.

Hello,
Your plant is a weed. If it has prickles on the midribs of the leaves, it is prickly lettuce. If the edges of the leaves have prickles, it is sow thistle.
Either way, both are weeds. Pull the plant out and discard.
