Are these beneficial bees? #272552

Asked August 24, 2015, 12:46 PM EDT

Are these bees we should try to save (with help from a beekeeper) or ones I should kill? Please answer ASAP because they are in my house.

Lorain County Ohio

It is very difficult to identify the insect from your photos. They may be yellow jackets which are wasps. If you would capture one carefully and alive in a jar, you could compare it with this bee ID chart and the article on yellow jackets.

See where they are coming into your house. If they are yellow jackets, they will have a paper nest.   It is Ok to exterminate yellow jackets. If they are honeybees, which I doubt, there is an active bee club in Lorain County, you can contact them to see if there are any member who will take bees from your house. This can get complicated and there is generally a charge for this service.
