Curry leaf plant dying from top #272106

Asked August 22, 2015, 11:32 AM EDT

Hi, I purchased a Curry leaves plant (murraya koenigii) from the local nursery and I transplanted it to a new pot and stripped off all the leaf stalks. In about three weeks it started growing leaves again and you can see the picture as it stands today. However Iam noticing that the leaves are always droopy and light green. Another curry leaf plant next to it is just fine with dark green and upright leaves. Further in the last week I noticed that it has started to die from the top. The leaves are drying out and the stem is becoming black. Iam not sure what to do. I have fertilized with an organic fertilizer and I water it every day and ensure that it's not drenched. Any advice is appreciated. Regards Vijay

Expert Response

Vijay, we have been having a hard time finding anyone here in the U.S. Extension system that felt comfortable answering your question. Primarily due I suspect to their unfamiliarity with this plant species.
What I pull from your description is the fact that you are watering this plant everyday. I wonder if this is too much. The symptoms you described are those of a plant that is receiving too much water. I suggest you extend the period between watering.
You could also speak with the nursery about the plant if you feel they have this expertise.
Good luck.
