Weed found in old hay field #271820

Asked August 21, 2015, 9:48 AM EDT

I wonder if you can identify this relatively small weed that has recently started spreading. In one area of an old hay field we bush hog annually. It seems to grow to about 4-5 inches with three stems on a stalk and opposite leaves with saw toothed edges. I want to know whether it's something I should try to control (an invasive) and if so how. Thanks for any help you can offer. If another photo showing it in the field would help, I can easily send one.

From this picture it looks a lot like wild strawberry. Did any of it flower or fruit earlier in the season? Strawberry likes disturbed/cleared areas. If it is strawberry it shouldn't be a cause for alarm. It will spread a bit, but very invasively... and will offer some sweet treats in June.

Thanks, Glen.
I fear it's not strawberry. I'm attaching a couple photos. One is another plant that grows like a vine (maybe wild strawberry?) and then a photo in the field of the mystery plant so you can compare. It grows single plants.

We're thinking it's Bishop's goutweed, or Aegopodium podagraria. I've listed a link to further information:
