Do churches that make food for sale to the public (e.g., spaghetti dinners, Lenten fish dinners, peach festivals, etc) need to be officially inspected for safety and health compliance? If yes, by whom? If no, are there guidelines church workers should follow when preparing food to sell to the public?

Yes, you would need to have facilities inspected. You can contact you local health department or the regional PA Dept of Ag office.

Dear Martin,
Thanks for your reply.  We did contact our regional Ag office, and the woman we spoke to said that if the church has less than 3 food fund raisers a year, insoection is not necessary.  I went to a local church's annual peach festival, and they said they have never been inspected.  Now I'm confused.....

If 3 days or less per year, then you are not required to have a license.  If more than 3, then you will have to comply.  

In my reply, I was thinking that you did more than just 3 days.
