Lacebark elm peeling bark #270088

Asked August 14, 2015, 10:21 AM EDT

I have 2 lacebark elms and both are peeling the bark back. I don't remember them ever doing that before.

Expert Response

This looks like normal bark shedding, which happens around this time of year, revealing the beautiful patchwork of a new layer of bark. For some forms, and in certain stages of the tree's life, it seems to be more dramatic than at other times. Enjoy the beautiful intricacies of nature!
