Expert Response
Dear gardener,
Thanks for contacting us. The blue flower is Centaurea cyanus, or bachelor's button. The pink/red one is not so easy to identify from your photo. It appears to be Lavatera trimestris, a member of the rose mallow family. While it is native to the Mediterranean, it is often included in flower mixes because it tolerates hot and dry climates.
