Possible verticillium wilt #268983

Asked August 10, 2015, 10:15 AM EDT

I just discovered white spots on the bark of my sugar maple tree. What do you think? Treatment? It is a beautiful tree and I don't want to lose it. Thanks.

Expert Response

We are thinking they are possibly lichens. Lichens do not harm the tree and will only grow in clean air! Visit this site for more info: http://www.extension.umn.edu/garden/yard-garden/trees-shrubs/lichens-on-trees/
