Hi! I struggle with a weed and am hoping you can provide some information / guidance! I've attached two photos. This weed grows to 10-12" tall, puts up a spore-bearing stalk in late winter/early spring, and looks like horsetail but is much smaller. My questions: - what is the name of this weed? - a local farmer told me the trick to control is to stop the spore-bearing stalk - is that true? - I've sprayed this with a brush-killer (like Crossbow) and it kills the green - does it really kill the plant? - I often just pull the green off to make the flower bed look good - will this kill the plant over time? - Would a pre-emergent like Preen work on this? - Other tips to control/remove this weed?
