Peach Tree Spraying #264579

Asked July 24, 2015, 2:54 PM EDT

Good afternoon.  I live in Plano and have 2 peach trees (& 1 pomegranate and 1 persimmon).  I have been told I need to spray my peach trees.  Do I?  And if so, when and with what?  What about the other 2?  Thank you so very much.  Have a great weekend.

Expert Response

To avoid many of the insect and disease that infest or infect peaches, you should spray according to a recommend spray schedule. Many of the products to control these problems are preventative measures, not curative. Therefore you have to spray before the problem occurs. You can search the internet for Extension publications using the term "peach tree spray guide". Below is a link to the one used for Texas and another link to information fruit production.

Pomegranates and Persimmons don't have that many serious problems so there isn't a spray schedule. you can find out more about these crops here: http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/fruit-nut/
