Large leaning Hickory tree #264189

Asked July 22, 2015, 11:32 PM EDT

We have a huge hickory tree growing in back of a house that borders a creek. It leans towards the house. Always has leaned but now it's at least 70 feet high. We are afraid it could fall as a tree not far away recently fell with all the rain. Who can I ask to take a look at it to determine if we could be in danger?

Expert Response

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but each tree should be thoroughly inspected by a professional.(great pic though!)  So many factors have to be considered, that such a decision should not be made from a photograph alone.

A certified arborist can give you an on-site evaluation of the trees' health and safety risk.

A list of Kentucky certified arborists (certified by the Kentucky Arborist Association- KAA) is available at our Jefferson County office. I would be glad to email or mail you a copy. Our contact information follows below.

The University of Kentucky does not endorse any specific arborist, and this list is provided as a convenience for the residents of Jefferson County. Other certified arborists may be available in your area.

Feel free to contact our office if you have other questions.

Let me know if I can help you further!
