What type of pea pod ? #263331

Asked July 20, 2015, 10:55 AM EDT

I bought a pea plant I thought was a sugar snap pea. They are curly looking pods and don't look like the typical sugar snap peas that I have seen. Can you help me identify them. The picture on your website looks like them

Expert Response

We think this might be a snow pea, based on the thin margin at the edge.
Snow peas are generally harvested while still thin.

Can I still use the pods that are overgrown?  Can I cook the peas as if they are regular green peas?

You can shell the pea  and eat them as normal  peas. If harvested young you eat the whole pod.
