Do the worms inside of cherries infect the cherry completely? #258101

Asked June 29, 2015, 8:28 PM EDT

Do the small, grey/white worms inside of cherries, really infect the whole cherry? Because I have a lot of fresh cherries, and I want to use them, but I don't know if I should...

Expert Response

Hi:

If you want to salvage the cherries, just cut the offending portion of the fruit, throw away the bad and keep the good parts.

Be sure that the remaining portions are clean and free of any signs of decay.

Hope this helps. Thank you for using eXtension.
