Yellow fungus climbing up base of indoor fig tree #256893

Asked June 24, 2015, 8:49 PM EDT

What is the yellow/orange slimy fungus on my indoor fig tree? How should I treat it?

New York County New York

Expert Response

This appears to be a slime mold, not common indoors where the environment is usually dry. It is harmless to the plant but the appearance is unattractive. I would wipe it off with a dry paper towel, then put an oscillating fan near your plant to keep it drier.
