Cactus identification #253245

Asked June 11, 2015, 11:35 AM EDT

I would like to email a picture of a cactus to be identified.  It has blooms that look like peppers or carrots.

Travis County Texas

Expert Response

Looks like Texas Nipple Cactus.  It flowers in the spring, and the red projections are the fruit.  Cool plant, huh?  http://worldofsucculents.com/mammillaria-prolifera-texas-nipple-cactus-little-candles/

Thanks for the info--I'll pass it along to the person with the plant.
