Raspberry worms #245457

Asked May 18, 2015, 6:06 PM EDT

Our red raspberries have leaf damage over the past 2 weeks. Small green worms are active on the undersides of younger leaves. No cane damage is seen yet. We'd like to eradicate organically.

Expert Response

I'm not sure what is eating your raspberries. The usual candidate is Japanese beetles, but their larval state is a white grub that lives underground. I recommend you take a sample of the worm and the damage to your local Penn State Extension office, and have them send it in to Penn State for analysis. You will receive a report telling you what insect you have plus a treatment plan.
