Asked May 09, 2015, 10:15 PM EDT

I found this tiny, 2mm long, beetle type bug on my vines today in Massachusetts. Can anyone ID it and suggest a solution?

Middlesex County Massachusetts

Hi,

This looks like the grape flea beetle. The adults will feed on buds but do more damage in cooler springs when the buds aren't expanding as fast as they are now. One the leaf expands, their feeding does usually not affect yields.

Here are some fact sheets on them. For control options, call the UConn Home & Garden Education Center at (860) 486-6271.
