University of Minnesota Extension has a very helpful lawn care calendar here:

You'll see that the calendar indicates the best times (solid red line) to do certain lawn care activities, and acceptable or second-best times (dashed blue lines). According to the calendar, the best time to apply crabgrass pre-emergent is now through mid-May.
