Fungi for soil fertility improvement in pastures #227840

Asked February 15, 2015, 3:25 PM EST

I want to incorporate fungi in a rotational grazing system to improve soil fertility, increase biodiversity in the soil layer, and improve nutrient cycling. Are there particular types of fungi that grow well in mixed grass pastures and that are nontoxic to livestock (mostly dairy cattle)? My initial research has led me to think that Coprinus comatus (shaggy manes) may work well. Would Macrolepiota procera (Parasol mushroom) work in this type of system? Are there other species that I could readily find spawn for that would be suitable.
