can anybody help me ID these mayflies (genus level)? I think these are neurocaenis and tricorythus, but i need a second opinion (more particularly from the experts). Thanks!

Expert Response

If these were American mayflies, myself or someone else in the Ask-an-Expert system might have been able to help you with the identifications. However, when I looked up these generic names, I see that that they are Afro-tropical genera. Unfortunately, I do not think anyone in our system will have the expertise to identify these genera, since they do not occur here in North America. I think you will need to find an expert on Ephemeroptera that is located in Africa, perhaps at one of the major natural history museums or collections. I searched the internet and came up with the following person, Helen-Barber James, who has worked on the Tricorythid mayflies of South Africa. I don't know if she can help you or not, but her email address according to that website is or was: <personal data hidden> . There may be other experts on African Ephemeroptera, but unfortunately I am not familiar with them. I am sorry I cannot be of more help at this time.
