Hi,
What can I do to control boxwood leaf miner?
I live in Manhattan and I take care of the plants that grow in front of our coop building.
We have two large planters outside - each with a 2.5’ boxwood. I think they are Buxus sempervirens ‘Green Mountain’. They have well-established boxwood leaf miner infestations. I haven’t done anything about it yet. I want to control it and keep it from spreading to the other boxwoods planted nearby.
I found a lot of information on line, most suggesting systemic, foliar, and/or contact insecticides, some mixed with a surfactant. I’m confused. What do you recommend?
Thank you for your help.

You are going to want to get more local help on this problem. If there is an extension office in your area, you should contact them. They will be more familiar with what can be used in your area and how to deal with the problem.
If anything, you can clean up any leaves. Be observant next spring for the first signs of infestation and remove those leaves.
You need to have the pest identified so you can find out more about its biology and how it over winters. Then you might be able to take some preventative measures to reduce the attack in the spring. This will also be helpful in picking any pesticides, if you choose to use them.
