Large sections of our arbor vitae trees are turning yellow. We need to know what the problem is so we can save the trees. Thank you!

Expert Response
In the fall old foliage on arborvitae turns yellow and/or brown. This is a normal occurrence. No treatment is necessary. vw
Should we cut off the brown limbs, and do you have recommendations about general pruning of the trees? Thank you so much.
Mother Nature will take care of this and the brown areas will be shed without help from you. If you want to speed things along, you can cut out anything that is brown. Generally arborvitae do not have to be pruned. vw
This is very useful. Thank you so much for your quick, helpful response.
