stella cherry tree leaf curl #216790

Asked October 13, 2014, 7:57 PM EDT

Hello, I have 2 stella cherry trees that were planted one year ago. They have severe leaf curl. What is wrong with the trees and how do I treat them?

Expert Response

The picture is out of focus where the discoloured leaves are that could show viruses but my best guess is http://pnwhandbooks.org/plantdisease/cherry-prunus-spp-verticillium-wilt

Hi Randy,
Thanks for taking the time to respond to my question.  I'm attaching two more photos for clarification.  Do you still think the trees have verticillium wilt?  If so, should we remove them?  Also, would it be safe to plant Liberty and Orenco apples where the cherry trees were?  Thanks again!

Please take a sample into the Marion County Extension Office. we will need a sample that includes healthy tissue and damaged tissue together.
