Should I be concerned about my sugar maple tree's trunk? #195722

Asked June 30, 2014, 6:47 PM EDT

The photo I attached is of my maple tree. Other than this not too attractive trunk, it seems healthy. Should I be concerned?

Expert Response

Yes, you should be concerned.  It looks from the photo that the interior of your maple is rotting.  I would have a certified arborist come out and evaluate the tree.  A tree the size of this one would do a lot of damage should it come down.  You can find an arborist at http://www.treesaregood.com/Home.aspx and click on Find An Arborist.
