Can you identify an you identify a large leaf plant, growing in a very wet area just south of swisher? I can e mail some photos. The leaves look somewhat like a hosta. Grow frome a center group. The leaves are huge. They are growing in a group of about 8 plant bunches. Only in one area of the property. Thank you. ( the property was previously owed by a Johnson co. Master gardener, so possibly may not be native plants)

Johnson County Iowa

Expert Response

The plant in the photo appears to be skunk cabbage (Symplocarpus foetidus).  Skunk cabbage is native to Iowa.  It is typically found in wet woodlands and marshes.
