Are the nodules on Liriope roots nematodes? #182026
Asked May 15, 2014, 5:09 PM EDT
Attached are photos of the roots of a Liriope muscari 'Big Blue' (big blue lilyturf) plant. Are the nodules on the roots nematodes? If so, can they be cut off, or is the whole plant infected? On another Liriope plant, I saw small, round nodules. Were those nematodes? With other Liriope plants, I cut off the few nodules and planted them. Should I dig them up?

Expert Response
Those are not nematodes. They are underground storage structures that help the plant survive through drought and other stresses. No need for concern.
That is so good to know. A little information can be a dangerous, thing,,, self diagnosis,,,,lol
