Horrible vine #179569

Asked May 06, 2014, 1:05 PM EDT

I have been battling this vine in my 3/4 acre yard in The Woodlands for 20 years.  Everyone tells me it is poison ivy (which it isn't), or trumpet vine.  There is trumpet vine all over the Woodlands with flowers on it, but these in my yard have never had flowers for 20 years - so I am doubting that is what it is, either.
A guy at the arboretum called it Devil Weed one time.  It grows under the ground and also up the trees.  I have found the vine under the ground as large as 8" or more in diameter.

Please tell me what this is and how to get rid of it.

Here is a little article that can help you in your quest.  It is a pain. We have plenty around our office and it continues to be a problem.

Thanks for your question.
Thank you! At first I was going to reply that mine have never had berries, but in the back of my mind I think I saw some berries on one years ago.  Thank you so much!
