We planted a black tulip ... #176502

Asked April 22, 2014, 3:35 PM EDT

We planted a black tulip magnolia, grown by Monrovia, last week. It is in full sun, and had leafed out earlier than the established trees in our neighborhood, presumably because it was grown in another zone and shipped to Maryland. Today I noticed extensive browning of several leaves. Sun burn? Something else?

Expert Response

The leaf in your photo looks like it was subject to possible cold damage.  The other leaves in the photo look like they are growing well. No control is necessary.
