Oleander shrub #172120
Asked March 29, 2014, 2:24 PM EDT
My pink oleander shrub (8'tall) sustained a great deal of freeze damage this winter. Do I prune it back or leave it alone? Also I have 2 bradford pear trees that are 12 yrs. old and have never bloomed. What could be the problem? I live in West Texas East of Midland.

Expert Response
Cut the oleander down to the ground. If the roots did not freeze, a new plant will grow from the roots.
The only reasons a bradford pear would not flower are tree too young, the flowers froze before the they flowered, too dry
