I have taken a small knife and peeled the bark and stem of my bottle brush tree and shrubs only to find no green. They both look dead. If there is no green is this true.  

How to successfully grow small evergreens in huge pots that would remain outside in the winter?

Hi, I messed up and failed to prune my Haralson and Honey Crisp trees, and they need some pruning. They're ~8 yrs old or so, over 15 feet high. Given the warm weather, can I still prune them or will I cause potential harm/disease. Thanks, Scott

Hi! I planted this dwarf alberta spruce last spring and it did pretty well in the summer but definitely got some spider mites mid-summer. It survived okay though and I've been watering it a bit (though not consistently) in the winter. All of a sudden a few weeks ago (after the very cold temperatures we had), a lot of the needles started dropping off, particularly in the back and sides. The front is still fairly green. Any ideas for how to keep it alive still?? Or is it just unhealthy and done?

Is there any hope for them? Will my crape myrtles have to be removed or can they be cut back to the ground?

I just noticed today that my 2 holly bushes are dropping leaves like crazy. I saw several fall off as I was standing there. The leaves are green. The bushes are 18-20 years old. We had a hard cold front that came through in mid-Feb., which brought single-digit temps and snow. Was that the cause? Will they recover?

Hi! My husband and I are looking at purchasing a 30 acre farm in Harford county. We currently keep sheep and a couple of horses. The property we’re looking at has operated as a dairy farm in the past, and raised beef cattle more recently, but includes a large manure lagoon near the barn. If we purchase the property we would want to remove/repurpose the lagoon as we would not be operating a CAFO. Are there regulations that would govern how this is removed/repurposed? Would there be any responsibilities on the part of the seller at the time of purchase? Any environmental challenges we should be aware of in living on a property with an older manure lagoon?
