I have a 400-pound steer that needs to be between 400 and 800 pounds in May and weigh around 1100 pounds next October. So, I need it to gain about two pounds a day. How should I increase his feed intake to reach the desired weight?

Expert Response
Is this steer going to be fed for a stock show or just for personal consumption? As a rule of thumb, it takes six pounds of feed to gain one pound of body weight. Below are some useful resources to help you along. Just remember, every calf is different, and some require more or less feed to reach the desired rate of gain.
