Ginourmous grubs! #156209

Asked October 08, 2013, 1:28 PM EDT

Greetings. I live in Canonsburg and on Saturday, a jillion of these huge, fat, grubs were coming out of the cracks in the pavement! Not just a few here and there, there were hundreds! I would be very interested in 1. knowing why and 2. what in the world kind of beetle would come from such a large larvae? And why so many? A few of us in the neighborhood has a professional come to treat our lawns and those grubs are coming out of the ground now. Kinda gross, actually. I think you'd like to see this!

Expert Response

I would suggest taking the grubs to your local extension office and having them sent to Penn State for the entomology dept to make an id for you.  You would then get information about what type of beetle they are and what is happening in your yard.
