Bad grass growing in our lawn #154976

Asked September 29, 2013, 8:47 PM EDT

We have bad grass growing in our lawn (we think its Bermuda). Is there anything we can do to get rid of it, or are we better to kill the entire lawn and start over?

Weber County Utah

Expert Response

Hello,

It's a bit difficult to identify the grass positively from a photo, so I would suggest taking into your local USU County Extension office (1181 North Fairgrounds Drive, Ogden) for positive identification.

Having said that, it does appear to be a perennial grass weed and controlling such a grass in an existing lawn area is difficult.  I would encourage you to review this fact sheet on bermudagrass control for recommendations.

Best regards.
