Plant Identification (possibly Poision Ivy??) #151799

Asked September 09, 2013, 12:36 PM EDT

I have 10 acres in Cypress TX.  Within the last few months a new plant has started growing around my barn.  My wife sweares it's Poison Ivy...I'm not so sure.  I have pictures.  Is there anybody that might help me identify my most recent botanical interloper?  I'm grateful for your assistance.  My daughter attends A&M in the Organic Chemistry dept and my son In the Corps Civil Engineering and they were no help....

Expert Response

The good news is that you do not have poison ivy. You do have field bindweed which is in the morning glory family. If you want to control it an herbicide with glyphosate works well.
